  1. ^SORRY! Kept looking at the word count instead of the character count... a lot.

My grandfather went in for surgery to drain a cyst. A simple surgery took a turn for the worst. My grandfather recovered, but the whole event made me think of living in a world that he wasn’t in. I have realized not to take anything for granted; especially the love of family.

  2. I went to Mexico a couple of years ago. i saw that the living conditions are very harsh. There was a sewer pipe draining in the street and the houses were 10-20 square feet. Seeing this made me really appreciate the 3500 square foot house I live in now.

  3. Jamming any finger can be a painful experience but is even more frustrating when it is your thumb that is injured. After that awkward block in basketball my eighth grade year I found out how terrible it really is. I could not give anyone a high five or write a note without pain.

  4. This past year, my best friend went to Peru on a mission trip. I missed not having someone to share inside jokes with, and someone who is at my every call able to help me with my important, yet sometimes childish issues. She will never be taken for granted again.

  5. My mom and I go through two cases of water a week, so I'm used to it always being available whenever I'm thirsty. Last month, though, things were different. My mom forgot to buy water, and I could hardly go a night without it. Never again I will take having water for granted!

  6. The year before last, I just happened to be walking down the street when I smelled smoke. It got stronger and stronger until I saw the flames. It turned out to be an orphanage so I ran inside and carried out every little orphan in the building. Me saving all these burning orphans made me realize how thankful I am for having a loving family.

  7. Since the beginning of this year, my grandma, who i am extremely close to, was diagnosed with cancer for the third time in her life. I go over to visit her multiple times a week and talk to her every day that I can. I realized how blessed I am to have a grandma I am so close to.

  8. Two years ago i broke my right wrist and had to survive for a few months without my right hand. I still have pain in my wrist to this day and it has taught me to never take my health for granted.

  9. I remember my youth pastors of my youth group. One of them I really didn't like all that well, and I wanted her to not be a youth leader anymore. But now that she is gone along with her husband, I've realized how much I miss them, and how much she and her husband were blessings.

  11. As the walls erected over the concrete slab I had just aided in pouring, I realized that the size of this "house" was no bigger than some of our sheds. Yet, when the family of seven arrived to see their new house that day in Guatemala, the tears flowed. I thank God for my house.

  12. Until tough times come a knocking, you never realize how important it is to have a family. Through the many rough patches and obstacles in life, I know my family will be there for me and for that I'm thankful.

  14. Working as a Teen Court attorney you work with a plethora of unique and troubled teenagers. Going through the court process in and of itself with these kids makes me understand how important it is to help others, especially my generation.
